I’ve always loved making things.

For as long as I can remember, I’ve always had a camera in my hands. Whether it was my dad’s MiniDV, my Canon XSi, or a RED, the rush of making something has always stayed the same.

Formally, I got my education at Chapman University where I majored in Television/Broadcast Journalism but I learned most of what I know about media from the 5.5 years I spent at BuzzFeed.

As a “Producer” at BuzzFeed my job was to do it all. We came up with our ideas, booked the equipment to shoot them, hopped in front of the camera to act as talent, and then slogged away at our desks editing a video to perfection until it was ready to be released. I did this every week, multiple times a week, and I’m glad I did, because as a director it’s given me a unique insight into understanding everything that goes into the process of creating something. I am keenly aware of the talent, the crew, and the client, always thinking about what each one needs in order to do their best work. I strongly believe this is what separates me as a director and allows me to deliver consistent products to each client’s liking.

Since leaving BuzzFeed, I have done work for Refinery29, ATTN, the Biden/Harris Presidential Campaign, Amazon, Hulu, Netflix, Best Buy, Home Depot, and Lowe’s. As a director, I know that my job is not to impose my vision on a client or micro-manage a crew, but rather to synthesize a million disparate thoughts into one cohesive vision. To sum it up, I’m detail-oriented, easy to work with, and promise to bring my absolute best to any project I work on.

Some quick stats (fun facts if you will…)

I’m Mexican/American.

My grandmother came over from Morelia, Mexico in 1949, where she initially worked as a tomato picker in Oxnard, CA.

I’m queer.

Yes, it’s true! And while it’s a DEI check box for some, to me, it’s my personal lived experience that informs my directorial lens.

I’m a cat mom.

His name is James. He is a GIANT boy who just turned six, but of course, he’ll always be a baby to me.

I love houseplants.

Yes, I am one of those millennials. But also if you need some cat-safe plant recommendations, I’m your girl.

“When we're talking about diversity, it's not a box to check. It is a reality that should be deeply felt and held and valued by all of us.” -Ava DuVernay

For me being a “diverse” director isn’t just about ticking boxes. Yes, I am Mexican/American but that isn’t all I am. Yes, I am queer, but my point of view as a director isn’t limited to my sexuality. Rather the real diversity I bring is diversity of thought. In having had to navigate all the aspects of my background in many different contexts, I easily adapt and relate to all types of clients.
